Cole Cameron's Revenge
Published in Hardcover by Harlequin Mills & Boon Ltd (30 October, 2001)
Author: Sandra Marton
Average review score:

4.5 STARS! I Highly Recommend!
The prologue drew me in fast and once I was hooked, I could not put this book down until it was over. By page fifty, I had cried so much my eyes were puffy and red. Sandra Marton brings these characters to life. She lets you see what they are thinking and I felt like I understood their decisions by reading about their internalized feelings.

The hero and heroine are so right for each other but their wrong conclusions about the past make them star-crossed lovers. The attraction they have for one another sizzles and I even felt my stomach flip when he'd kiss her. My emotions were so caught up in this novel but...

The ending would have been perfect had the characters feelings been revealed to the reader. However, at the most vital scene, Sandra Marton stops revealing the character's feelings to the reader. Instead there is dialogue between the characters and the secrets are revealed with out the reader ever knowing how the other truly feels about the revelation. This makes the end unrealistic and it falls flat. A few lines of internalized feelings would have made this a five-star book, and because it comes so close, I would have liked to give it 4.5 stars.

I highly recommend this novel because, even though the ending falls slightly short of perfect, this book is a great read with three-dimensional characters, an interesting plot, and great pacing.

TONI'S REVIEW
I want to share this great review with you. It was written by Toni Kroening, and she's given me permission to share it.

Toni said:
"Cole Cameron's Revenge" came in the mail after Christmas, giving me a nudge to keep my dreams alive. My head has been filled with interest rates and taxes lately.
Your book did the impossible. It enabled me to get away from it all and still remember what is really important.

As a reader, you kept me captivated and it was hard to put down. I was able to return to whatever scene I left without losing the story. That's talent.
As a writer, you impressed me again. I loved the prologue and the set up. You promised me a story with enough meat and came through at the end. Underneath all the anger and the horrible words they said to one another, it boiled down to the love they have. It was superbly written."

A compelling read
This is a wonderful book, full of depth and heart. The story is compelling and the characters and their emotions are beautifully drawn. I highly recommend this to any reader looking for something more than a read-it-and-forget-about-it experience. This one will linger with you.

Affair! How to Manage Every Aspect of Your Extramarital Relationship with Passion, Discretion and Di
Published in Digital by Universal Publishers ()
Author: H. Cameron Barnes
Average review score:

Dismayed to say the least
There are many options to an affair and self-help books to guide you... and I have read just about all of them. This book will only put you deeper into your problems and will not address the real issues at hand in your marriage. Of course, there will be people who will endorse it, but it certainly won't be from me! I have always been pleased with the books I have ordered, but this one doesn't pass with even one star. Not only is this book detrimental to a marriage, it certainly smacks of greed and self-fullfillment. Of all the self-help books that could be endorse, this one needs to be reconsidered, I really dislike this book! :(

Extremely helpful
This is an extremely helpful book. I wish I had known this information some time back. I could have avoided a considerable amount of emotional pain by not selecting the "wrong" type of person with which to have a clandestine relationship. Now I have been in a loving affair with a wonderful man for two years. So far we have been able to keep this private. I know I will have a better chance at keeping this relationship going with the information I have read in the book. I would highly recommend this book!

Finally, an honest view of affairs
I loved this book! It contains the most open and honest assessment of extra marital affairs I have ever seen in a book. It reveals a fact about which our culture has been in denial: affairs are common and need not mean the end of an otherwise good and practical marriage. Ben Franklin once stated that "as long as there is marriage without love, there will be love without marriage." Many people will not like this book, as its ideas run counter to the prevailing cultural winds, but anyone with an open mind will appreciate it.

Be a Bad Girl: A Journal
Published in Paperback by Chronicle Books (September, 2001)
Authors: Cameron Tuttle and Susannah Bettag
Average review score:

Pure Junk....
Honestly ladies, don't you think that most men know better than to stay with a "bad girl?" Sadly, Tuttle has given you the worst advice possible.

The facts are these. Your rights are guaranteed by the US Constitution...everything else you get is a privilege. Your family has to put up with you--for everyone else, it's merely an option.

Sweetness goes a long way...and using sex as an incentive to get what you want is fine, but don't be surprised when it backfires on you and you're burned.

And one wonders why the author, slightly shy of 40, is still unmarried....

Unleash Your Inner Bad Girl
Finally, a way to plot, plan and become the bad girl you always knew you could be! Fun entries, lists and many other tools and ideas have been put in this little book for you to get in touch with your inner bad girl self. This journal is a fun way to take a humorous look at life and have fun living out something you always knew was deep inside you just waiting to burst to the surface.

Bad Is Beautiful!
Thanks to this funny, smarty, cutey journal, me *and* my little sister are both finding and celebrating our bad girl selves. Wahoo! Being bad feels oh so good! This is a great little gift for the girl who has everything-- except enough confidence, satisfaction, self-esteem and giggle-snort laughs. PS: Life is so much more meaningful with a bad girl alias!

Because She Is Beautiful
Published in Digital by At Random ()
Author: Cameron Dougan
Average review score:

Because She Is Dumb
I suppose it's my working-class background but when I finished this book I threw it across the room. It just did not resonate with me at all. The writing is fine and Dougan is at his best when zeroing in on Kim's family dynamic - but the whole thing is ultimately an empty exercise. I found it hard to care about an essentially shallow, incredibly beautiful woman with father issues who spends her entire adult life as the mistress of a very wealthy man. PUH-LEEZE! Even AFTER she realizes she needs to be independent in order to have any kind of meaningful existence she flies to Paris ON THE RICH GUY'S DIME! Then the damn novel UTTERLY self destructs as she pines away after some utterly cliched "artist" character. I actually ended up wishing I could somehow reclaim the time I spent reading this fodderol.

Because she is beautiful
Dougan's use of language is sensual and concise. A beautiful read. The descriptions of contemporary social life in New York are researched meticulously. The character of Kim is very true to life and believeable. I almost feel like I know Kim after finishing the book in record time...couldn't put it down. Looking forward to Mr. Dougan's next work.

Brilliant Wordsmith, Perfect Prose, Exquisite Voice
Cameron Dougan is a brilliant wordsmith. His debut novel is haunting and obviously heralds the birth of a very important 21st century writer. This beautifully written book is reminiscent of the great F. Scott Fitzgerald (particularly, Tender Is The Night)in it's exquisite subtleties and perfect chronicling of a very specific and fascinating segment of New York society in the most marvelous detail. I was deeply moved by the tragedy of Kim Reilly's horribly scarred and damaged being...Dougan's ability to write in a woman's voice is extraordinary! With the utmost tenderness and sheer femininity he shows the reader Kim Reilly's innermost joy and pain throughout her transformation from childhood to womanhood without faltering from the female voice or the emotions that are specific to children and adults. Although Kim lives her entire life under a veil of sadness and ambivolence, Dougan imbues this complex character with the wisdom to view her life in a renewed way and the reader is left with the great sense of ultimate hope for her redemption.

The sorrow that she feels in being involved with a married man is combined with the love, hate, ecstacy, adoration, and confusion that she carries from her childhhood. The alchemy of Kim Reilly is a potent and complicated mix.

Dougan's gorgeous portrait of this tortured woman is a poignant lesson to the reader about the universal struggle for transcendence and transformation.

His novel is a MUST READ and I eagerly await his next book!

The Court of the Stone Children
Published in Hardcover by Peter Smith Pub (January, 1994)
Author: Eleanor Cameron
Average review score:

YUCK!
WARNING: This book looks good. It has an interesting plot. Do not be fooled by its 4.5 star rating on Amazon.com. Side effects may include nausea, boredom, and downright depression for wasting time.

This book is very slow, boring and has terrible writing! I mean, there's this one part that is something like: "The deserted place was empty." COME ON!!!
Do not read this book!

A wonderful book that engrossed a 13-year-old
This book has a beautiful elegance that is very unique and engrossing. It made me have a feeling of nostalgia--- even though I have not, (and probably never will have) this experience: It made me long for the the timeless feeling of not being busy with endless plans and appointments. It is descriptive; it paints a beuatiful picture for the reader (but then again, that seems to be the character of Nina: Aware of her surroundings). The characters were very real, and one is able to visit each in turn and deeply empathize with them. I would say that the plot builds admirably, though to me at times it seemed a little slow (but maybe that't just me?). However, that is the style of the book; timeless, mysterious, and discriptive. Some things seemed slightly unexplained, however, when I reached the ending...I would conclude that this book would appeal to people who see disdinguishments in characters; a book for people who enjoy life, and who see and experience its many beauties. A good book? Yes, very much so!

A wonderful book from my childhood
I wish I could give this 4 and a half stars, because I rarely give out 5 stars. I recently reread this book after 25 years and I still love it. Eleanor Cameron understands how kids see the world: part magic, part mystery and sometimes just plain hard to live in. I recommend her Julia Redfern books, especially "A Room Made of Windows."

For adults interested in children's literature and writing, I strongly recommend her collection of essays "The Green and Burning Tree, On the Writing and Enjoyment of Children's Books". Her chapters on fantasy and her extensive bibliography are excellent.

Kilimanjaro & Mount Kenya: A Climbing and Trekking Guide
Published in Paperback by Mountaineers Books (March, 1998)
Author: Cameron M. Burns
Average review score:

Be careful of a strong bias on the part of the author
Mr. Burns book was informative but I took strong exception to his reccomendations on physical preperation for the trip. Further, his reccomendation on nonuse of Diamox for altitude sickness prevention also disturbed me. Mr. Burns gives the impression that the trek is nothing more that a brisk walk and that a genuine workout program of cardiovascular training and weight training is of little use. If one were to rest on his reccomendations they would stand a very small chance of reaching the summit. Further, the use of Diamox for many who summited proved to be a key factor in their success. If one were to take these sections of his book to heart I do not think their Kilimanjaro experience would be a positive one. Be in the best condition you are able and have Diamox at the ready if you need it.

Agree with Keith Kendall - Caution advised
As others have noted Mr. Burn's book is well written, and informative. But as Keith D. Kendall correctly observes in a review elsewhere on this page, the notion that a trek to the summit of a 19,000 foot peak may be accomplished without achieving a high level of cardiovascular fitness is not only misleading and potentially dangerous, but frankly absurd. Ditto for Mr. Burn's comments on the use of Diamox, which he either doesn't understand (his comments in the book indicate little experience with its correct use), or again, dismisses out of hand as he has never had to use it. You may. The information in the book is valuable, but as with everything else, it is only a single point of view. I liked the book a great deal, but take some pause when obvious misinformation is attributed to an 'expert' source.

Good preplanner
This is a good book to read before you actually book a trip. There is alot of information in this book that puts you in a frame of reference of where you are going. Africa is a total different world from the United States so it is nice to know what you are getting into. In regards to some of the info I think Burns thinks that everyone is in as great a shape as he is in. I would recommend overtraining and doing altitude to make the trip as enjoyable as possible. I was in great shape and zipped up to the top but anyone can make it if they go slow. Also don't worry about travelers checks they take any kind. I would recommend booking an African travel agent and advoid using an American agent. This will save you money. We used Easy Travel and Tours for our Tanzania trip and were very satisfied with them

Thy Will Be Done: The Conquest of the Amazon: Nelson Rockefeller and Evangelism in the Age of Oil
Published in Hardcover by HarperCollins (May, 1995)
Authors: Gerard Colby, Charlotte Dennett, and Charlotte Dennett Colby
Average review score:

A Terrible Book!
This is a highly distorted and poorly researched book written by liberals with an agenda. Readers should first see "Missionary Capitalist: Nelson Rockefeller in Venezuela"(2002).

The authors of "Thy Will Be Done" are examples of those described in "Guide to the Perfect Latin American Idiots" and "Useful Idiots: How Liberals Got it Wrong in the Cold War".

Thy will be done
This is one of the half dozen best books I have ever read. It answered a lot of questions as to how the power brokers operate. I found some answers to the Kennedy death.

A fantastic reference on who runs our world & how they do it
I agree with all the reviews above, especially the last writerwho said to buy it and keep it.

I would only add that the authorsof Thy Will Be Done did an outstanding job of illuminating the intense conflicts between the Kennedys and Rockefellers on almost every business and government issue. Each well-sourced fact paints a picture of how much Big Business, Big Oil and Big Banks hated the Kennedys.

Col. Fletcher Prouty (Man X in the JFK movie) and the makers of the movie Executive Action pointed to a cabal of Big Money as the group that set the JFK assassination machinery in motion. I have always thought this a plausible theory but it needed more facts to support it. Colby's book provides them, in bits and pieces, scattered througout its chapters without ever announcing any belief in a conspiracy to kill JFK.

Yet, when I finished the book, I had a much clearer picture of these Big Money fat cats sitting around, discussing matters of mutual interest, including the fate of the Kennedys. And, there, at the head of the table, sat the Rockefeller Brothers.

Anyone interested in finding out more should consider reading a book by Donald Gibson called Battling Wall Street: The Kennedy Presidency.

A Glossary of the Construction, Decoration and Use of Arms and Armor in All Countries and in All Times Together With Some Closely Related Subjects
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (January, 2000)
Author: George Cameron Stone
Average review score:

Hold On!! Warning!
This notorious work (originally written in the 1920's) has probably done more to retard the accurate presentation and study of arms & armor than any other single work. Repeatedly referenced and re-referenced over and over, this huge book is an outdated and inaccurate resource. Despite its length, coverage, and many rare photos of beautiful weapons, it is a greatly flawed and full of errors. It reflects a lot of just plain wrong and even completely fictional information. Avoid it in favor of more modern refernce works!

If you can only have one book on arms, this is it.
Stone's glossary is the first one I consult whenever I start to research on arms and armor. For many questions it is the last place I need to go. If you can only have one book on the subject, get this one.

Many entries for all sorts of weapons/armor. Often brief.
Offers numerous short entries on weapons and armor. Gives good coverage of both European and Oriental (Western/Eastern) styles. Overall a great book for the armor/weapon enthusiast.

Heart's Desire (Mystery Date)
Published in Paperback by Kensington Pub Corp (Mass Market) (August, 1995)
Author: Cameron Dokey
Average review score:

A DISAPPOINTMENT!
Cameron Dokey has written excellent romantic novels. Although, this hasn't been one of her best novels. The beginning of the story was good although it lacks in the end. The story could have been excellent if she had worked more on the conflict and the characters involving in the novel. I would have liked if Cameron had to portrayed the antagonist more realistic in the novel. Yet, I think this novel is similar to the other novel she did called THE TALISMAN.

Another great book by Cameron Dokey.
Heart's Desire was another great book by Cameron Dokey. It combined romance, suspense, and a bit of horror. Jeanine is an ordinary teenage girl who buys an Egyptian pendant at a second hand store one rainy day. On a class trip to the museum, the pendant awakens a young Egyptian man, who during the time of the Middle Kingdom, was cursed by an unfaithful lover. Jeanine is determined to deal with this situation practically - until she finds herself falling in love with him. I highly reccomend this book to teens who like horror and romance stories.

HEARTS DESIRE
THIS IS THE BEST BOOK EVER! CAMERON DOKEY DOES A REALLY GOOD JOB OF

LETTIG YOU KNOWTHE PEOPLE! YOU WELL LOVE THIS BOOK

Why Is Everybody Always Picking on Me?: A Guide to Handling Bullies
Published in Paperback by Education for Peace Pubns (1997)
Authors: Terrence Webster-Doyle and Rod Cameron
Average review score:

This book was very informative and fun to read.
This book tells about bullies and victims and teaches how to be neither one. It explains how bullies may become that way because they are bullied or are hurt inside. It helped me to look at bullies in a different way and made me feel sorry for them. The book also talks about different types of bullies and how some bullying is seen as "successful". Victims are sometimes attacked by bullies because they act like "poor me" and the bullies see that as a sign of weakness. The books tells how not to act like a victim and to not BE a victim. I really liked the role-playing and questions that helped me think of ways to avoid a fight. I also liked the stories. This book was very informative and fun to read. I learned a lot of things that will help me to become the best person I can be. Thank you, Dr. T!

I would recommend this book to anyone.
This book was based on solving a conflict nonviolently. It helps victims defend themselves from the bully nonviolently; physically and verbally. It helps bullies recognize that they are bullying and to stop. And it teaches you how to help somebody you know, to stop bullying. It teaches you how to recognize your feelings and to help control yourself. It helps you to control the bully or victim inside of you. I liked this book because it taught me that without even trying, you can bully. It's made me see the bully and victim inside of me, and in a way I've been nicer and have not "bullied" people as much as I have been in the past. My mother has also seen a very big difference since I've read this book. It has helped me a lot. I don't think that there was anything I didn't like about this book. I think it had some very moral values. I would recommend this book to anyone. Now I want to read the others.

Caitlin (Age 15)

AN EXCELLENT BOOK FOR YOUNG PEOPLE COPING WITH BULLYING
I felt this book was excellent in laying out clear specific techniques that one could use to help them creatively deal with bullies and bullying. Getting out of a bully situation is so hard for so many people and this book makes it easy to see how one can do it. It took away the feeling of helplessness, and empowered me with skills I could use all of the time. I was intrigued by each of the techniques, like the trickery technique. I realized this is something that all of nature does for survival. Just like the moth that makes itself look like a leaf so as not to be eaten. Brilliant! But not only does this book gives you tools to defeat bullying, it also explores the root of bullying and conflict so that it can be prevented before it starts. Often, we may not realize how each of us may bully at times, because of our conditioning. This book showed me how to look at that conditioned behavior and to be aware of it. The problem is not just being bullied, but bullying. And this book does an excellent job of dealing with both. I suggest any parent buying this book for their child whether they are bullied or not.
